I. Mt. Nyamuragira, Goma, D.R.C.
With Democratic Republic of the Congo's elections looming, Mt. Nyamuragira's largest eruption of the century continues to attract hundreds of tourists to Virunga National Park in eastern Congo, paying at least $300 USD to spend a night next to the erupting volcano. Goma, DRC, 23/11/2011
II. Fighting Famine; Northeastern Kenya
Northeastern Kenya is facing the worst drought in over 60 years, and as global climate change produces rains that are more erratic, unpredictable, and undependable, the situation is only bound to get worse.
These photos, taken on assignment with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, document the situation in North Eastern Kenya- and some of their solutions, short term and long term, currently being implemented by the Red Cross.
